Feeling God’s presence and having Him touch your heart and spirit is an unparalleled experience. Here at Church Alive one of our goals is to provide that experience for all who attend our services. We even have a special service to “practice” in that special anointing.
Although practicing the presence of God may seem foreign to us today, even a monk named Brother Andrew wrote about this very subject in the 1600’s. And predating that, God’s word, the Bible, states in Hebrews that it is by reason of use that a man has his spiritual senses exercised.
We hold our services every Saturday night at 6pm at Seacoast Community Church, Lafayette Rd. Portsmouth, NH. The special practicing service called “School of the Holy Spirit” is held on the second Saturday of every month at the 6pm time.
It is not a classroom school but rather a specialized learning and practicing time with a very loose service structure. The purpose is greater sensitivity in the Spirit, intimacy with God, and use of the spiritual gifts.
All are welcome. The evening includes worship and praise of God and times of activation into the things of the Spirit. All are encouraged to be more in touch with the supernatural things of God. It’s a powerful mix that is never the same from month to month.
Won’t you join us?

This testimony actually starts back in July of 2006 when I went to Summer Camp Meeting at Rodney Howard-Brownes church in Tampa, FL. I thought I went to be refreshed and just soak in the anointing but God had other plans. On the second morning of services they announced that anyone that wanted to could go out on the streets and witness. Well, I immediately knew that I was supposed to go but I argued with God. He reminded me that I had prayed, “Do whatever you want with me this week, God.”
Well, I hardly slept at all that night, but I got up knowing that I was going out on the streets. I almost didn’t go when the time came but at the last minute I grabbed my stuff and ran out the door after the teams. I was so scared as we drove to a low income neighborhood, but as I began listening to my partner share the gospel with the first people we encountered I decided to go find someone to share with and soon I found that the person was bowing his head to receive Jesus in his heart! I think I led about 7 people to the Lord that day and I went home to New Hampshire knowing that the Lord wanted me to continue evangelizing.
Well, that burned in my heart all year but aside from sharing a little bit with some co-workers I really didn’t follow through.
In June of 2007 I went down to Long Island, NY to join a group that was doing soul winning all week. I didn’t arrive until Wednesday morning just in time to go out with the second team. We went to the beach and after striking out with the first few people I talked to, I didn’t speak to anyone else. Well, I went to the meeting that night and I cried out to God to fill me with His fire and burn out all my fear.
The next morning we, (my son and I,) went with the early group to a nursing home. Our goal as a group was to minister the gospel to every resident. Most of the residents were in a common room so we just started going from table to table and individual to individual. Some of the residents could not communicate very well, or hear very well but we ministered to every one regardless. One was sitting with her head bowed down and kind of dozing but I touched her shoulder to get her attention and I told her I had come to pray for her. She didn’t speak at all but I shared the gospel with her and she indicated by nodding her head that she wanted to receive Jesus. I prayed the prayer with her and her entire countenance changed. She was smiling so big and her eyes were bright and alert. Even as I moved on she followed me everywhere with her eyes just smiling away. I led 11 people to the Lord that day.
The following day we went to two different nursing homes and prayed with every single person in both of them. I don’t know the team totals but I led close to 20 people the the Lord and my 14 year old led 16 people to the Lord. Awesome!
I am determined to stay full of the fire of God and continue soul winning and this testimony is ……………………to be continued…………….for many years to come.

My husband and I are facing severe shortfall in money to pay our mortgage every month. While being good stewards of our money, we have no control over the agreement that early retirement required at 62 that has reduced the pension.
For some time now we have been writing “Money cometh” on our offering envelopes fully believing that God is faithful to supply all our needs. As we wait for that, we have had to take disbursements from our retirement account, which would be depleted in about a year and a half. But faith is the “substance” of things not seen. So we continued to stand in faith for that substance to be revealed.
As we started into the shortfall a few months ago, a CI minister gave us $100 with the statement “I didn’t know who this was for, but when I got to this meeting the Lord told me that it was for you. And it is the seed of his provision to meet your needs.” We were much encouraged and our faith was strengthened. We tithed and seeded from this money.
Then, at the May Regional Conference of the Christian International Northeast Region
In Portsmouth, NH, a check was placed in the offering plate for $1,000 made out to my husband and I with the notation “love gift”. What a blessing! The person was not someone we knew, perhaps one we had ministered to during the conference. But besides sending a grateful thank you note, we are praising God for His provision. After tithing on it, we seeded some into the good ground of two of God’s faithful servants. We understand the seeding principle; you reap what you sow. and, we fully believe for God’s faithful and gracious provision to continue to supply.
Do we not serve an awesome God! We certainly think so!

Even as the world shrinks, the church often “stinks”. As much as globalization and the internet help spread the “good news” they also lay open all our faults, scandals, and faux paux. But the prophetic voice of God through believers today should counter those holes in our walls.
In a recent issue of a popular ministry magazine, a report suggested that a ministry encourage plagiarism of creative ideas from other pastors. The writer stated that this shouldn’t be frowned upon in the church. He tried to soften it by likening it to “open source”, a geek term for software that’s usable, adaptable, and open to improvement without violating copyright.
Sure, we don’t want to reinvent the wheel, but we must be careful! Where are our integrity, character, and moral value systems? We should pay for those ideas. But deeper than that, who is listening to God for their times, seasons and people that God has given them?
The prophetic voice, direct spokesmen and women for God, should more than suffice for the timely, creative and God directed ideas that we need. Both the believer with the prophetic voice and the voice of the prophet, (yes, there are prophets today), are those crying in the cultural wilderness of today. Let us not forget that God wants to speak, guide and direct us in his ways, strategies, and fulfillment of needs. He is the creator who made us in his image and likeness.
Are we up to the challenge? Or will we allow our integrity and standing as God’s spokesmen to be negated by increasing globalization, culturalization, poor character, integrity and insecurity concerning opposition.
At Church Alive we train, equip and activate believers to be those voices for God to stand in the gap in the midst of the cacophony of worldly voices in or outside the church!

Following our impactful trip to Acquire the Fire, we have committed to being a battlecry 33 church. From this life changing event each of us has been stirred to turn this generation around. We will no longer sit back and let the media brand us and decide what our futures will be. We will not sit back and watch things happen but WE will stand and decide what will happen. This is our battlecry! For the next five years we have committed to doubling our youth group each year to make sure that we will not have just 4% Evangelical Christians! Will you join us in the fight? Elder & Co youth leader - Jacqui Hodgkins

As a community based model replicating the New Testament Church, Church Alive wants you to be aware, learn and grow in your purpose in life.
As a pebble dropped into a pond makes ever-expanding rings of ripples, we all “fit” somewhere to affect both those surrounding us and those beyond.
Our goal is to see every person discover, grow and be effective just like that pebble leaves its mark upon the water. Even a little pebble reaches the edge of the pond.
What is your pebble doing? We can help your passion become a reality. Come and join us Saturday nights at 6 pm for a time of worship, word, prayer, praise and prophetic input for your life. Step out and see how God has purposed to use you, help you, and fulfill your purpose and destiny in life.
We are about “Empowering ordinary people to do extraordinary things for God and one another through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
